The camp cap — a flat-top, usually five-panel, unstructured hat with a shallow fit and adjustable strap — bridges outdoor heritage and contemporary streetwear. Gazelle develops camp caps as a fully custom product, controlling flat-crown geometry, panel seams, peak shape, strap and branding so the hat keeps its relaxed boxy profile rather than sagging or looking like a standard baseball cap.
Camp caps rely on accurate panel geometry to hold a flat top without being stiff or collapsing. We develop five-panel builds with a single large front panel ideal for clean embroidery or print, plus four-panel and camper variants. Peaks range from a soft pre-curve to a near-flat style, and shallow, regular and deep fits are confirmed on a sample so the crown sits at the intended height.
The category rewards textured and washed fabrics: cotton twill, ripstop, canvas, nylon and taslan, waxed and crinkle nylons, corduroy, suede-look, linen and pigment/garment-washed cotton. Washes deliver a broken-in vintage hand-feel approved at sampling; water-resistant or performance finishes are specified and tested rather than claimed loosely.
The single front panel suits large flat embroidery, woven or printed art, applique, screen and digital print, and bonded or leather badges. Strap closures include leather or leather-look straps with metal buckles, Velcro and self-fabric ties; side and back labels, eyelet finish and under-peak colour complete the spec.
