Custom running and performance caps
A running cap is judged on weight, breathability, moisture management and fit under movement — criteria very different from a structured cotton cap. Gazelle develops performance caps for running, cycling, triathlon, golf and outdoor brands using lightweight woven fabrics, laser or stitched ventilation, and moisture-wicking sweatbands that keep the cap stable and dry during exertion. Reflective elements and a secure fit make the cap safe at dawn and night events.
Performance construction
Running caps are typically a low-profile five- or six-panel unstructured build, or a lightweight structured front for a clean race-day logo. We use featherweight polyesters and micro-mesh panels, reinforced but non-bulky seams, and a pre-curved or mouldable peak. Fit options include elastic rear closures, adjustable straps that sit under ponytails, and race-hat fitted profiles. Ventilation can be stitched eyelets, perforated panels or laser-cut holes depending on fabric.
Moisture management and fabrics
Fabrics are selected for wicking and fast drying: performance polyester, recycled poly knit and woven, mesh inserts, and lightweight ripstop. Sweatbands use wicking or antimicrobial-treated materials, and internal construction avoids heavy cotton that holds sweat. Any cooling, antimicrobial or UPF claim is specified and supported by test data rather than applied as unsubstantiated labelling.
Visibility and decoration
Reflective prints and trims, high-visibility colourways and subtle glow-in-the-dark accents support low-light safety without compromising a clean aesthetic. Logos are kept light so they do not add weight or block breathability, using thin-density embroidery, reflective print, heat transfer, bonded or laser-cut silicone badges and sublimation. Weight is measured on the finished sample and kept as low as the construction allows.
MOQ, sampling and lead time
Custom running cap MOQ commonly starts around 100–150 pieces per colourway, with event and team orders scaling quickly. A pre-production sample confirms weight, breathability, fit under movement and reflectivity; existing constructions can be sampled in roughly three days. Bulk lead time is set around race dates and product launches at quotation.
Who custom running caps are for
Performance caps are built for running and triathlon clubs, cycling and outdoor brands, marathon and obstacle-event organisers, golf and tennis programmes, corporate wellness and sports-marketing campaigns, and retailers needing a lightweight technical private-label cap.
